ACCA Course Duration – After 12th, Graduation & CA
There are numerous professional courses that allow you to work as an expert in the field of accounting and finance. The ACCA course, which is offered by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) body in the UK, is an internationally recognised course.Â
With the ACCA qualification, you can work in over 180 countries in companies like BDO, Grant Thornton, Morgan Stanley, and the Big 4 (EY, PwC, KPMG, Deloitte). Most of these companies hire ACCAs at positions similar to a Chartered Accountant. After ACCA, the average starting salary is anywhere between INR 6-8 lpa. Â
ACCA Eligibility CriteriaÂ
The candidate must have completed their 10 + 2 Examination with 65% aggregate in Maths/Accounts and English and a minimum of 50% in other subjects.Â
ACCA Course Duration
The time it would take for you to complete your ACCA journey depends on your academic qualifications and the number of exemptions you can claim.Â
1. ACCA after 12th
After completing class 12, you are eligible to start giving your ACCA exams. There are no exemptions for those who have completed class 12, so they will have to attempt all of the 13 papers for the course. For such candidates, it should take anywhere between 1.5 to 2 years.Â
2. ACCA after Graduation
After completing your graduation, you may be eligible for up to 4 exemptions from the 13 ACCA papers. If you have completed your B.Com, you will be eligible for up to 4 exemptions; if you have completed your BBA, you may be eligible for 3 exemptions. Based on such exemptions, your course duration for ACCA will be around 1 to 1.5 months.
3. ACCA after Foundation CA
If you have completed your Foundation CA exam (CPT)Â but have not completed your graduation, you will not be eligible for any exemptions from the ACCA papers. However, if you have completed your graduation and have completed your Foundation CA exams, then the same exemptions apply as described earlier.Â
4. ACCA after Inter CA
If you have completed your Inter CA exam (IPCC) then you will be eligible for up to 5 exemptions from the ACCA papers. If you have cleared IPCC with B.Com may be eligible for 6 exemptions. In such a situation, a candidate may be able to finish their ACCA journey in around a year with the right amount of preparation.Â
5. ACCA after Final CA
If you have completed your CA journey or have cleared your Final CA exam, you could be eligible for exemptions from 9 papers out of the 13, i.e. all the papers from the Knowledge and Skill level exams. After claiming these exemptions, you should be able to clear the remaining ACCA exams in around 6 to 8 months.Â
The ACCA course duration largely depends on how quickly you finish your preparations and how well you prepare for the exams. If you are confident in clearing the exam in your first attempt, it should take you a minimum of 6 months and a maximum of 2 years to complete the course.
